Executive Director for the National Recycling Coalition

Job description: The Executive Director position offers a unique array of leadership challenges in order to build and sustain the organization.

A new framework for membership, dues, and sponsorship must be refined and implemented to ensure the financial health of the organization. Sources of revenue must be diversified and predictable, allowing for more structured financial planning for our donors and sound fiscal management for internal and external activities.

As a coalition of widely diverse constituents, diplomacy and inclusiveness are essential to build support for policy and program initiatives. Alliance building is critical to development and implementation of strategic programs. Positive relationships must be built and sustained with the Board, staff, and the array of members, partners, and other stakeholders who support NRC's mission, to include federal, state, and local government officials, citizen recycling advocates, business leaders from major international corporations to small product and service providers, and the affiliated state Recycling Organizations.

The field of recycling includes elements of environmental and behavioral science, operations management, economics, policy development and advocacy, and communications to diverse constituencies. To exercise its leadership on recycling issues, NRC must bring together the resources to address these elements in a strategic, comprehensive, credible manner.

NRC must expand its member services and recycling leadership capabilities. NRC must maintain its position a non-adversarial coalition of diverse interests brought together by a common goal of enhancing recycling and building a sustainable future. Within that mission, new strategic partnerships, programs, and projects must be established to enhance recycling capacity and performance in the U.S. NRC must expand its development and dissemination of information on best recycling management practices and on influencing consumer and organizational behavior.
